The Organs

Your Adventure in the Organs!

The Organs – Named after their resemblance to an organ musical instrument, the Organ Mountains outline one of the most unique horizons in New Mexico. Most of Southern NM had scattered camp sights throughout history, many of which ended up in the Organs. They were officially named by Antonio de Otermín,  Governor of Santa Fe de Nuevo México, in 1682. They offer one of the most unique landscapes in the Southwest. The Organs are home to the Heart of the Organs, the Organ Needle – Elevation 9012, Dingleberry Peak, the Rabbit Ears, la Sierra de la Soledad, Peña Blanca and Bishop Cap. They are also home to many historical mysteries and several archeologically significant sites.

In celebration of the 5th Anniversary of the Oran Mountain-Desert Peaks National Monument, our Down with OMPD Adventures are available to everyone while supplies last!
